Sulfa Related Allergies
UpdatedI am allergic to sulfa drugs and currently have bronchitis. One of the things prescribed to me is ventolin hfa it says it has albuterol sulfate should I be concerned? ( I did tell the Dr that I was allergic to sulfa drugs.) Two more questions, I used to get really itchy tiny bumps on my back. The doctor never could figure out why, but I started looking at the ingredients of shampoos and saw that most of them had sodium lauryl sulfate. This was before I was ever diagnosed with an allergy to sulfa drugs. Is there a connection with sulfa drugs and sodium lauryl sulfate? Last question, the last two times I've colored my hair the guy gave me a burning sensation on my scalp. It wasn't so extreme but definitely noticeable. The ingredients contain sodium metabisulfite is that yet another sofa allergy offender?

No, there is a difference between a sulfa drug, a sulfate, a sulfite and sulfur. Thus, everything you've mentioned are different things.
A sulfa drug is something such as Sulfamethoxazole and some blood pressure medications. A sulfate is a chemical salt that the particular chemical is derived from… I hope you can see where I'm going with this and the differences.
For instance, I am also allergic to sulfa drugs, but I can drink red wine, which contains sulfites and have no problem with it, at all. I can even take most blood pressure medications, I just have reactions to straight sulfa drugs.
Now, it is of course possible that you may be allergic to them all, but not very likely.
You should be able to use the Ventolin, without a problem, but its side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, hoarseness and nervousness.
As to the burning sensation on your scalp, it is time to find a new hair dresser. He shouldn't be letting that much of the hair color hit your scalp to cause the burning, it is not supposed to be massaged into the scalp and the directions clearly state that.
Additionally, as I've also experienced being sensitive to some hair products in the past myself, you can request that they use products specifically for sensitive scalps, so if you want to continue going there, then please request that they do so.
Is there anything else I can help with?
