Sulfa Drugs Allergy

Is citalopram a sulfa drug? I just started this, and I'm starting to feel the tingling and burning in my hands. I'm allergic to sulfa.

No, this is not a sulfonamide.

Citalopram is classified by the FDA as an SSRI antidepressant. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, headache and weight gain.

However, it is known that if you're allergic to one medication, there is a definite risk that you will also be allergic to others.
