Sulfa Drug In Robitussin (Top voted first)

after taking Robitussin, my wife had a reaction with systemic urticaria. Her only known allergy or sensitivity is to sulfa medications. I can't find any sulfa in Robitussin. Any ideas

There's a chance that she's allergic to an ingredient in the Robitussin. If you were to research this in the articles provided by the NIH, you would see that they warn about it being a possibility. When someone is allergic to one medication, or class of medications, it is common to find more that they also cause them to suffer allergic reactions.

Such reactions tend to get worse, with repeated exposure, so she needs to stop taking it and have it checked out by her doctor.

I know this was written a while ago but in case someone sees this searching as I was. I am allergic to Robitussin and break out in a rash/hives. It has been the only medicine I have every had a reaction too. Well a few days ago I was prescribed the generic form of Bactrim DS and sure enough after 2 doses my eyes were super red and irritated and I broke out in a rash.
