Sudden Allergic Reaction After Taking Imitrex For Years

I have taken all sumatriptans ever made probably with Dr. reddys being used currently. I have taken imitrex since it was invented and still am in awe of its effectiveness. Yesterday I opened a box of two prefilled auto injectors with the usual results. So today I took the second and shot and within ten minutes began itching with welts and swelling. One hand was blueish with nausea/vomiting and abdominal cramping. There was absolutely nothing different than 100 other times. It was bad enough I will be concerned to take it. Has this happened to anyone else?

I am very sorry about what you've experienced. However, our bodies do change with time, so such an experience is entirely plausible, according to NIH reports, though only a medical professional can give you a definitive answer as to the cause.

The FDA lists other possible allergic side effects as including nausea, trouble breathing, swelling, and itching.

Did you experience any other issues? Are you on any other medications?
