Stronger Antihistmine Than Vistaril (Top voted first)

I use vistaral for severe itching due to my hepatitis c, sometimes it helps but more than often it does not help. Any suggestions to what else I can take to relieve the itching all over my body, there is no rash. I have been to an allergist. I have tried diphenhydramine and cetirizine and many anti itch ointments. Kathy

Hi, Kathy! I do understand, that has to be miserable.

What dosage do you take and how often do you take it?

Vistaril/Hydroxyzine can be taken in doses up to 100mgs, every 6 hours for a maximum of 400mgs a day. However, for those with severe problems, it can be used in amounts up to 600mgs a day.

I At times I take e 50 mg of vistaril once a day some times it helps sometimes it doesn't help at all. at times I take 50 mg of benderyl in stead. I have been afraid to take too much of vistaril because I worry that one day it won't work at all, if I build up an immunity to it. Kathy C.
