Yes, it can be a mistake to stop, when you start taking antibiotics you should always finish the complete course of treatment, unless you suffer an allergic reaction to them, or your doctor tells you to stop taking them.
At this point, having started and stopped, you no longer have enough left to finish a complete course of treatment.
You should talk to your doctor and tell them what you did, so you can receive a new prescription to finish.
