Started Lo Loestrin Fe Birth Control Sunday After Period. (Top voted first)
UpdatedI started this birth control on the Sunday after my period, with the first row of a brand new pack ... So will my period come if I take the brown and white pills next week? Isn't my period suppose to be on the 3rd blue row? I'm confused. I finished the 3rd blue row and it's like I have my period but it's dark dark brown ... What's going to happen when I take the brown and white ones next week .. Ahhh

Hello, Kimmy! How are you?
No, you will get your period the 4th week of the pack. The spotting that you're experiencing can be a normal side effect of taking oral contraceptives and usually takes about 3 months to wear off. You may also experience nausea, headache, irritability, weight gain and PMS like symptoms.
If the bleeding continues, you may need to switch to a different OC, as this may not be the right one for you to take.
I had to try several, before I found one that didn't cause me to have breakthrough bleeding all the time.
And for future reference, you should've started it the first or second day of your period, not after it was over. If you start it on day one or two of your cycle, it provides immediate protection against pregnancy, because it will prevent ovulation from occurring. If you start it at any other point in your cycle, it takes a week to become effective and backup protection must be used for a full 7 days, to ensure protection against pregnancy.
Is there anything else I can help with?
My gyno said to start it the next sun after my period if I didn't get it sunday ... So I got my period a mon so I waited until the next Sunday to start the pack I think I have my period now which is when I was due. It's now red and dark dark brown and I still have 2 more blue pills left before the brown and white ones. I believe I have my period now .. This is just confusing me. Will it eventually regulate itself? Or do I have to restart it over?
No, it will eventually regulate itself. You may still bleed next week, as well, when on the inactive tablets.
It may take about 3 months, for your body to get used to the hormones in them and for things to balance back out.
Are there any other questions or concerns?
Wait I was told to start on the first Sun after I started my period. I just started today, Tues. So your saying I should take the pill on Thursday not Sun?
Hello, question!! I am taking lo loestrin fe. Because of a new method of receiving my pills via mail and there being an issue with an address change, I ran out and was forced to stop taking my pills for a month. The next month, I began menstruating on a Monday, and proceeded to begin my pills the following Sunday- six days later. On Monday and Tuesday, I was intimate with my partner without using protection. I have read that not using extra protection during that first week starting the pills could mean pregnancy. What are my chances of this occurring?
