I Started Butrans 10mg. patches & Nurotin 2 weeks ago. I was on Vicodin for years and only took it 2x's a day. Once in the am and then at bed time. I stopped taking the Vicodin cold turkey because I didn't think I would have any problems. I have been so sick with nausea, headache, dizziness, and fatigue. These are some of the side affects in both the new medicines I am taking. I took the patch off for a day and still took the nurotin and the feeling got bad again with the nurotin. Im not sure what to do. The doctor says that the patches usually don't make you sick. and help out there would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, Patty! How are you?

The patches can cause those side effects, when your doctor says 'usually' it means that they've not experienced it with most of their patients, but it is definitely possible.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Such issues should start to taper off in severity after about 4 weeks or so, once your body has adjusted to the medication. However, if they do not, you should speak to your doctor again as you may need to try other medications.

Is there anything else I can help with?
