Sprintec Problem

I've been on Sprintec for a little over a month....before taking my periods were light and lasted no more than 5 days. I've had a very heavy period now for 2 weeks with LARGE clots as well as no libido at all....is this something to be concerned with and contact my doctor or just wait it out...I was on sprintec about five years ago and it was wonderful with no side effects but this time has me ready to give it up...please help!

Hello, Dawn! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems you're having.

Our bodies do change with time, especially our hormonal levels and from the symptoms you've described, it sounds like your estrogen is too high, so the Sprintec may be adding too much for you. You might need to switch to something else. Some breakthrough bleeding can be normal, when starting an oral contraceptive, but the clots and continuous bleeding, as well as the lack of libido makes me tend to think it's not the right one for you.

Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and PMS like symptoms.

Have you consulted your doctor about this, yet?
