If you are referring to Tri-Sprintec, or it's generic equivalents, the doses of the hormones vary each week, then the last week is hormone free to induce a period.
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms.
