I have been taking sprintec since august of 2011. Before that i was taking ortho tricylen lo but my new gyno switched me to sprintec. Today in march 2012 i started cramping and spotting. I am not supposed to start my period for another week. I take it at the same time everytime except this last week i have been off on taking it regularly. should I be concerned?

Those can be normal side effects of taking an oral contraceptive, especially if you've been taking it at irregular intervals. However, if you are concerned, there is no harm in discussing it with your doctor to be sure.
Other side effects may include nausea, dizziness, acne, mood changes, and weight changes.
