Sporidex-af 750 Ranbaxy

I Want To Know Why it is given? Whether it is given to prevent infection or is it a painkiller?

I did some searching and even though this isn't listed in the US drug datbases under this name, I did find out that it is Cephalexin 500mgs, which means it is an antibiotic. So it is used to prevent infection, not to treat pain.
