Hello, Laura! How are you?

Under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, generics are allowed to differ from the name brand, in the amount of the active ingredient, by as much as plus or minus 20%. However, they do not have to measure against each other, only against the name brand. This was done to help bring generics to market faster, in hopes of keeping prices lower. The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window and, for most people, it doesn't cause a problem.

But some people are sensitive to medications and even a small fluctuation may cause problems.

The only suggestion I can make is that, if you have insurance, you may want to ask your doctor to prescribe it as brand medically necessary, so the pharmacy can no longer give you generics in the future.

Does anyone else have any advice or suggestions?
