Solco 342 Valsartan (Top voted first)
UpdatedOur pharmacy has changed the supplier to Solco's Valsartan. It has very strong odor, as of an aromatic compound. It doesn't control the blood pressure very well. Just wanted to know if anyone else has experienced the same? Worried about this issue. I have already complained with the pharmacy. They are going to change them. I wonder what is causing the odor.

I just changed drug mfg's for valsartan from aurobindo to solco heal - Now I'm having vision problems, blurring vision and loss of peripheral vision. Could the change of mfg have this result?
Valsartan has been pulled from market as of July 18 2018, medication had an impurity issue Solco on of the mfgs, was told to find alternative by several pharmacies.
All - This is a horrible situation. I too took the SOLCO valsartan and received a letter last week from Walgreens saying that the SOLCO valsartan 160 mg is tainted with NDMA. This is a highly toxic carcinogenic chemical that is known to be toxic to the liver. Basically, we've been ingesting poison for as long as the SOLCO meds have been taken - up to 4 years the FDA is saying. I called SOLCO Friday - and they were useless. I called the FDA as well and they said they are unsure as of yet as to exactly how much NDMA was in the medicine but that they are continuing to test it. Apparently it varied by batch. I stopped the medication immediately and I feel better already. I had been low energy and having trouble getting out of bed. I also had an elevated liver function test. This is so frustrating. These cheap generic drugs coming from China are dangerous. We need to read the bottles and reject Chinese generics. Tell your pharmacy that you will not accept these generics made in China.
Hello, Zoe! How are you?
Actually, most medications do have an odor, but some manufacturers use an outer coating, to keep people from smelling them. However, there are some companies that don't, and when you suddenly receive one of them from your pharmacy, it can seem odd.
What have your blood pressure readings been, while taking it?
The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.
I had been taking 160 mg Lipitor to control my BP for many years. Then I took a generic. Walgreens started using Solco as the supplier.. My BP is no longer under control...it was 143/90 in the past 2 readings. Medicare will not pay for Lipitor. I am not happy about this Solco generic.
My wife was taking valsartan made from this same manufacturer in China. She opened the bottle and it smelled like acetone and was concerned because she was having severe side effects. She switched back to the same valsartan made from another company in India and the side effects as well as the smell went away. Will never use this product again!
I have been taking generic diovan hct for yrs. no problem. Now Solco generic and my blood pressure 170/110 and about. going to start working with RX and go to a weeks worth on brand name to ensure it is the Solco not working. Have in the past had a seizure med not work due to buffer. I changed generics and all problems corrected themselves. I am thinking the same may be true with Solco as it has happened and stayed bad. Good luck to all. Be your own investigator. And just don't jump ship midstream.
When will we see a recall on Solco Valsartan? Seems that's more important than advertising! Valsartan 160mg imprinted "HH 343", has been found to have carcinogens; FAD found it doesn't meet their safety standards. Per CNN and our local news.
