The 3 and the 5 are separated by scoring in the pill and the flip side has a half moon imprint on it.

The blue tablet with the M E5 on it contains 2mgs of Estradiol, which is a sex hormone, mostly predominant in women. Thus, it is frequently used for HRT.

Being a synthetic hormone, it does carry some risks, such as increased risk of clotting, headaches, weight gain and dizziness.

As to the original tablet, however, I haven't been able to find anything on that one.
