i have been on nuvigil for 5 gays 150 mg the first 3 days i felt great awake during the day and slept great at night. now when i take it I feel tired 3 hrs after i take it like i could take a nap. does that mean i need to take a higher dose or can i cut the pill in half and take it twice a day

Hi there, I have been taking nuvigil for about a year now. I have severe narcolepsy & the 150mg did absolutely nothing for me either. I contacted my neurologist & he didn't hesitate to up my dose to 250mg & it immediately worked for me. Contrary to what most people believe, It all depends on how severe your sleep disorder is, and has nothing to do with your weight, gender, or age. I'm a 27 year old female, 125 lbs, 5'7". I just recently started having to take an extra 150mg around 2pm because after a while your brain becomes tolerant, as it does with pretty much any med that's taken daily for a long period. So if I were you I'd definitely give your prescribing Doc a call to discuss possibly adjusting your dose. You didn't mention what you're taking it for but I'm guessing it's narcolepsy? Leah is correct, it just may not be the right dosage for you.

Have you contacted your doctor, yet? It would be best to discuss it with them to find out the safest way for you to proceed from here.
