Sleep Aids Testing Positive For Methadone And Antidepressants

I am in a suboxone program and have been since last March. I have been taking otc sleep aids for well over ten years, but NOTHING else. I get urine tested every Tuesday at my doctor. I have never failed a drug test before. The nurse asked what medications I was taking and I told her just my suboxone and tylenol pm... She said it showed positive for methadone and antidepressants. I was in shock! I am so careful that I have suffered thru two horrible colds (bronchitis once) and refused to take any cold meds. I called the office later to tell the nurse that I did take melatonin a few nights ago, thinking maybe that was it since it was the only different thing I've taken. She said no, that actually my tests have been positive for a while but they can't read any levels, it just shows up positive. I've researched this issue and apparently the ingredient in the sleep aid has very commonly shown a false positive result for drugs. I'm going to switch to unisom and see what happens at my next screen. I'm curious, if there is anyone else this has happened to... When the tests were sent off for further analysis, were you informed that the result was indeed a FALSE positive??

This happened to me as well. I go to a Suboxone doctor and get drug tested every 3 months. The last time I was tested, I came up positive for methadone when I hadn't taken methadone in years. Doc said they got new tests and it could just be an error due to that. I went to my appointment today and tested positive AGAIN for methadone when I haven't taken it. Luckily my doctor believes there is something off here because I am also on probation and get drug tested regularly through them. I do take sleep aids every single night. It's generic Unisom, diphenhydramine, and according to some research, several other people have had the same issue and diphenhydramine is the common factor. I talked to my doc later and told him about my findings and he said the next time I come in, don't take any sleep aids for 3 days prior to my appointment. I am hoping that will do the trick because for once I am doing everything right and I don't wanna be discredited over something like this.
