Skin Rash Caused By Sulfameth Trimethoprim

I was taking sulfa for 5 days but quit due to fever and chills. I've been done for 2 days and now I have a rash on my back and arms. Any ideas on what to use to clear it or how long it may last?

Yes, it sounds like you were having a bad reaction to the medication and are most likely allergic to it, so you probably did the right thing by stopping it. However, you may still have the initial infection, so you should see your doctor for a different antibiotic and to have the rash evaluated. In most cases, it will clear up on its own after a week or so, but you may need something to treat it, only your doctor can say for sure.

It happened to me last year and it took over a month before I was feeling back to normal.
