Side Effects Of Lovenox (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been on lovenox for 5 days. I am beginning to hate this stuff. I take my shots at 9am and pm. In the morning it seems like I get about 30 minutes after and I am ready to lay down. I also get chills and feel like I am paralyzed.. It makes my legs and arms very heavy to move. I am typing this after my worse night thus far... Do hot my pj's are wet yet if I uncover then I get a chill. This just sucks. I use a compression sock during the day but it makes my legs very itchy and of course I don't want to scratch.

Hello, Wayne! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having.
Those can be typical side effects of Lovenox and most blood thinners/anticlotting agents, there have been many posts complaining about similar issues and some people have even had to change medications.
Some of them should improve, after about a month, once your body gets used to the medication. If they don't, then you should speak to your doctor.
You may also experience administration site irritation and easy bruising.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Wow ! I didn't mind the thought of giving myself inj's. at the beginning but now with everything I am feeling ... I hate it. I have been told that if my INR is above two (in the morning) the folks at my protime clinic will probably tell me I can stop the inj's. and just take the warfarin.
I am awake now at 3:30am because my chest is "crawling". This stuff might help save lives but the side effects are very annoying. My gut is lumpy and bruised and now I am getting little twinges of uncomfort mostly on my right side but anywhere on my chest.
This is seriously acceptable to the FDA ?
Yes, it is, because many people don't experience those side effects, they actually only happen to a very small percentage of people.
I agree, you might be better off with the Warfarin, even though it requires frequent INR checking.
Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, easy bruising and increased risk of bleeding.
How are you feeling?
My Michael had the exact same problem and he HATED it. The Anticoagulation Dr said he had to take it (no choice), BUT his oncologist suggested Fondaparinux 1 time a day and he has NO BRUISING, NO SIDE EFFECTS, AND NO PROBLEMS. Ask about it - it's so much better. He needed Lovenox 2x a day but not this.
Hi Wayne
Mike had very bad bruising with 2 shots of lovenox per day. I gave the shots and he was really miserable
The Dr put him on fondaparinux 1 shot per day
NO BRUISING
SHOTS DINT HURT
NO MONITORING EXCEPT EVERY 3 MOS AND
HE GIVES HIMSELF THE SHOT NO PROBLEM THANK G-D
Warfarin has more side affects so ask your Dr
For anyone who cannot afford lovenox:
I had a considerable amount of inj's. which I wanted to give to those in need but was informed that i could not do so without breaking the law. It is illegal almost everywhere to give away drugs. So I researched and found nothing and then... I called my congressman and begged for his help. We found out that Wyoming has a government dept that will happily accept bonified sealed properly identified donations which they will even give you a tax receipt for the value! Bravo Wyoming!!!! God Bless everyone who needs it. Let me know if anyone needs the phone #.
My brother was taking Enoxaparin Sodium Inj's. for about 2 months and both of his legs started swelling bad. The dr. took him off it now, but will his swelling in the legs go down?
I was told by a nurse. This injection will cause swelling in both your legs. And if you stay on it for a long time, your legs will start draining fluid out of them. It will also cause bruises too.
Yes the nurse told the truth about this medication injections (Lovenonx). If you stay on it for a long time. Your legs will start draining fluid out of them. The dr. put him on a fuild pill (LASIX) to take the swelling down. The fuild was working great for a week. He was going to the bathrm. alot, but now it's not working anymore. He stop going as much. And his legs (both) are swellen 3x it's size. The fuild pill he's taking now is Lasix for the fuild. I talk to a nurse too. And she she this was a new medication that hasn't been out that long. And her mother was taken it. And her both legs swellen big too and fuild started draining out of her legs. And had to make the dr. take her off it too. I feel the doctor should tell people about it's a new medication and it might cause sweelenin the legs. and if on a long time, it could cause draining in the legs. Does anyone know if this happen to them? And if you got the swellen down. What medication was giving to you? Thank You
