4 weeks on endep, sleeping a little better. 6 hrs waking up still with extreme sweating and unrefreshed. Feel like I'm half drunk. i.e. brain fog most of day....interfering with life functioning.... Also on 14mg nicotine patch. Can they be a bad combination? Nightmares have been added.

I was prescribed a 10 mg dose for fibromyalgia. I took my first dose last night and didn't sleep all night. Tried to take a nap today, but still couldn't sleep. I am now tired, and really don't want to take it tonight for fear I'll be awake all night again. I don't think this is the pill for me. I'm hyperactive, and I think it's having the opposite effect of what it should be having in my body. My mind was racing all night. I'm too tired to mess with it again. I think I just need pain meds.

My doctor gave me 10mg twice a day to help me sleep. The first time I took it, it made me too drowsy, now it just helps me sleep.

Have been prescribed amitriptylin 10 MG a night i have nerve pain from shingles have tried Lyicar and gaberpinton nothing helps I m confused since amitriptylin appears to be a antidepresent

I was prescribe the same thing I had severe shingles, it didn't help my pain although I only took it few days and the pain was unbearable and my doctor gave me Norco for my pain, but I am gaining weight. My pain from shingles still painful. My doctor told me that I will be in pain for awhile.

I take 75mg of Amitriptyline for pain and to help with sleep, every evening at 7.30pm. This ensures that I am sleepy when I go to bed between 1 and2 am and I manage 4 to 5 hours of sleep. Without it I get no sleep. I don't find it helps with migranes.

Hi I have just started Amitriptyline for fibromyalgia pain. Have resisted for 2 years, I did try CBD oil from Healthspan but made my pain worse! I cut my 10mg tablet in half to 5mg 1st night GP no impressed, however fibromyalgia nurse advised dosage to me. I am concerned about the vision and weight gain effects though as due to not being able to exercise I am overweight. Does anyone know if you stop amitriptyline does the weight come off?

I know how you feel I've been on them for a month and aweek they ease over time but they don't completely go you just have to bare with it here's a tip always carry a COLD drink it must be cold not warm or hot if you do this you'll be free of it for an hour or so :) hope this helps

I've been taking amitrip for 5 or 6 mths now and was on 10mg definitely helped with my migraines was also put on it for chronic fatigue. Over time I put on weight but I had thought it was because of my hyoothyroidism. Have had my dosage increased to 20mgs this week by doctor.I am back to school now and have tension and migraines most days. Anyone help regards to preventing weight gain or anything regarding chronic fatigue/hypothyroidism?

I've been prescribed Amitriptyline 10mg to start off rising by 10mg per week up to 50mg max for Interstitial Cystitis. I took 4 tablets and had to stop, I was completely sedated and groggy from them, I slept from 7pm until 7am on the 4th night. I fell asleep in college and couldn't study as I would fall asleep. In fact, if I wasn't moving I would feel sleepy and doze. I also suffered from headaches from day 2. I stopped taking them on day 4 primarily because of the sleepyness and sedation ... unbearable.

Hello everyone. I went to the doctor and got APO Amitriptyline. APO is the company name. I can't quite remember what the pharmacist told me but the original company that made name brand Elavil sold out to APO, which uses the same ingredients and this particular brand is working for me the same as the Elavil brand. Just wanted to let people know.

Been taking Amitriptyline for over 3 years now. It has definitely reduced number of migraine attacks. I cut a 10 mg tablet in half & take one half each day before evening meal. Yes, it did make me sleepy if I took a whole 10 mg tablet that is why I have tried to become less dependent on it. It doesn't suit everybody. To try & prevent acute attacks I am prescribed Eletriptan, but if my migraine has progressed to vomiting this won't be effective. Have you tried Eletriptan? It can work well if taken early enough.

Sorry to hear about your discomfort , but I was just prescribe this medicine, Pharmacist did not explain the side effects, so i did my own search, to my surprise this darn medicine can cause so much side effects, including what you are going through. not to mention suicidal thoughts, mood changes, vision problem and the list goes on, my advise to you is, if you can get off this money making medicine please do, or always check for your self for the pros and cons before you ingest any medicine. as for me I will be settling with Tylenol, hope this helps somewhat.
