Side Effects Of Gabapentin Tab 600 Mg And Nortriptlin Cap 25

I am a 45 yr old woman who suffers from reflex sympathetic dystrophy and was prescribed nortriptylin cap 25 mg at bedtime and gabapentin tab 600 mg 3 times per day. I have had the following sypmtoms: unable to sleep at night but lathargic during the day, sweats, chills, cold like symptoms (runny nose, coughing, sneezing, phlegm in throat), headache, diaheria. I feel like I have the flu. I stopped taking my meds and some symptoms went away but the doctor asked me to get back on the meds and the symptoms came back....could it be coincidental that I am coming down with a cold or are these side effects from my meds? Please help or has anyone experience this?

How long have you been taking them?

Much of what you've listed are not typical side effects, though they have been experienced by some people and since you are taking both, it is difficult to say which one may be causing the problem, or if it is the combination of both.

However, most side effects generally hit their peak at about 4 to 6 weeks of use, when the medications hit their full effectiveness in the body, then they are begin to taper off, as your body adjusts to the medication.

If it has been longer than that and you are still experiencing them, then you should contact your doctor, again.

You have described some possible side effects. Even though some side effects are less common, if you happen to be the one of the people lucky enough to experience them, then they are common--for you! And it's quite possible you did have some sort of viral infection that was causing some of those symptoms. Has your doctor had a lot of patients with RSD, now known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, who have benefitted a lot from gabapentin? That would be great if she or he has. I would ask about numbers. You may be able to avoid the chance of experiencing side effects.
