Side Effect Of Generic Lexapro On The Libido

i am 52 yr. old female on 20mg. Lexapro for almost a year. I have noticed my desire for sex decrease and can't achieve orgasm anymore. This is embarrassing for me to post but I am a newlywed. wondering if anyone else has had this side effect. please help

YES!! It is embarrassing and frustrating. I'm a 56 yr old female and have been married to the same very understanding man for almost 35 years. Been on antidepressants for 13 years, but lexapro was added a few years ago because my hormonal changes (menopause) were wreaking havoc with my mood swings. My Dr. suggested a don't take the lexapro one or two nights before having sex. I know, it takes some planning, but like I said my husband's understanding. I'd been fooling around with the dose for a few weeks and suddenly I felt weepy etc. so I'd had enough and started taking all my mess correctly. Well, now it's like starting over again. I'm so nauseous from early afternoon on, I can barely eat. I've lost about 10 lbs. because of this. And of course sex is out of the question right now *sigh*. I really hope the nausea goes away fast, but from what I read it takes about 4 weeks for that to happen. When I first started taking it I had no side effects. (Well, except for the non-existence of orgasms.) I feel for you, and hope your husband's also understanding. It just sucks that in order to handle our depression, our sexual satisfaction has to suffer :( Good luck <3
