Shortage In Florida Of Oxy
Updatedtrying to keep a regular pharmacy these days to fill my scrip for 30mg oxys - I've been going to pain med doc for over 7 years and unfortunately have been using Walgreens in the past who seem to have simply decided not to carry them with the exception of the 15mg's - anyone in Hillsborough county had luck with other pharmacies? who take insurance?? I can meet the rules they have in place: must fill sch II with a non schII scrip, insurance, past history, MRI w/in 2 yrs, doc office takes insurance, on and on (the rules change on a monthly basis as we all know)... thank you

I am very sorry that you are having trouble getting your prescription filled, however, shortages almost always occur towards the end of the year due to mandatory manufacturing limits and it is going to be difficult to find a pharmacy that still has them in stock at this time.
These limits were imposed to try to help prevent diversion of these substances, because with a controlled supply, there is less to lose and it makes everyone keep a closer eye on what is available, but for people like you it creates a problem when the demand over the year has exceeded the supply.

The best idea I can give you, which has worked for several other people that have posted, is to contact your insurance company and see if they have a preferred mail order pharmacy that you can use. Since they often have fewer customers, they may still have a stock of the medication, while chain pharmacies do not.
Are there any other questions or comments?
@ Verwon: this is not the problem here at all. There is no "shortage" and never has been. Strict "rules" (more like threats) from the DEA have pharmacists scared to fill schedule 2 narcotics in fear of losing their license, even though it's completely unconstitutional.
