Shingles (Top voted first)
Updatedhow long does it last?

Even when there is no rash, the pain of shingles may be apparent. Before a rash is visible, the patient may notice several days to a week of burning pain and sensitive skin. When the characteristic rash is not yet apparent, it may be difficult to determine the cause of the often severe pain. Shingles rash starts as small blisters on a red base, with new blisters continuing to form for three to five days.
The duration of the outbreak may take three to four weeks from start to finish. On occasion, the pain will be present but the blisters may never appear. This can be a very confusing cause of local pain.

I hope this info helps!
Shingles is caused by the herpes zoster virus and the initial rash can last anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks, but you may continue to experience nerve pain for a long period afterwards.

Have you consulted your doctor? There are sometimes treatments available that can help limit the duration and severity.
I have had Shingles with the outbreak starting on November 4, 2011 and is continuing to this day May 2, 2012. The entire left side of my head and face including the inside left portion of my mouth continues to burn and tingle especially the area on my left chin and inside of my mouth. Has anyone else had this particular quadrant of their face being affected by shingles and if so how long did it last and what remedy, if any, would you recommend. I have been prescribed Nortriptyline HCL capsules, 10 mg, 2 caps at bedtime. I haven't seen any improvement except it does help you to sleep at night. Thanks for any suggestions.
OMG!!!! I am so happy I clicked this one topic open. I have been reading a lot on this and I feel more then not that I have I have had the rash band under my breast and then one on my foot, as Im told it settles in the weak areas, I have very bad fractured feet (long ago) tho they never heel. I also think that this severe pain is not fibromyaliga, and most doctors state the rash is not there yet I think I have all the other symptoms as It never fails I get a sore in my nose or earlobe or little under the skin blister of sort very sore on my hands(palms) anhd bottom of my feet, my grandmother had this severly when I was young, I believe I have had my whole life I have always it gets worst yearly as I age and now pretty unbearable for 3 to 8 weeks of each rotating outbreak I say.
My QUESTION, Is there a blood draw test for this and when in the out break should it be done, you are a blessing thank you so much!!!!!
