Clindamycin loses effectiveness over time, which is why it has an expiration date of 1 year, once dispensed. After that time period, it may not completely clear up and infection and this creates the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria.
Have you consulted your doctor to get a new prescription?

No you can´t. That medication has most likely lost any effect it once had
You might try calling your local health department to see if you can go there without insurance. They used to base it on your income. Also, Urgent Care offices are sometimes a flat fee. Call around. Also, if you Could afford a dr visit you can usually find discounts pharmacy cards online for medication. Hope you feel better soon. God bless.
Don't take clindamycin. It causes some very serious side effects. I am suffering at the moment from severe diarrhea and I'm waiting to see if I have C. difficile. I wish to God I never took this. Throw it away!
Please, contact your doctor before taking any medications, even old prescriptions. Clindamycin has a shelf life (in capsule form) of 3 years (if stored below 75F/25C temperatures). It is possible your prescription has lost some effectiveness, but, according to drug information, should still be viable. Care must be taken with Clyndamycin as it, like all antibiotics, changes the biotic flora in the GI tract, and can cause an overproduction of less desirable microorganisms. If you experience GI cramping, or marked/discolored loose stool, stop taking the drug and notify your doctor immediately.
Can my grandson who is 16 take clindamysin 300 for an respitory infection? Will they hurt him?
I can so relate I was hospitalized last August for C-diff after taking Bactrim which has sulfa, that I'm allergic to.
Re: Mrs w (# 5)
The bottle specifically says it can cause diaharea, they are rather strong antibiotics but they come in handy with abcessed tooth pain , mine are 2 months past the discard date (not experation date ) so instead of 2 every 6 hours im taking 3 just to make sure the bacteria in my tooth doesnt become resistant ... Yea the belly aches and stuff suck but i would rather have a soar belly or diharea over my face killing me anyday lol.. Hope this helps u next time ... Also when i first started taking them i took 1 every 3 hours to spread them out enough i didnt get sick at work or anything .. Good luck!!
Meds lose approximately 10% effectiveness a year. You can attempt to see if it helps, but don't double your dose, due to the fillers in all meds. Good luck.
