Serentil Can If Be Found Anywhere

I have a sister with a mental illness, who took serentil for years. It has been off the market for 6-7 years, she was never hospitalized when you was taking serentil. She has been on several medications by themselves and in conjunction with other drugs, and nothing seems to work well. She has been hospitalized at least 7 times since serentil was taken off the market. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or any knowledge about this drug or anything that might replace it.

My son took Serentil and did well in combination with Tegretol. No other meds have done sd well. If you find a substitute or a good reply please let me know. I have thought about contacting the drug company to see if they had a suggestion>

Painfully and sadly my mother and no doubt countless others have a similar story or should I say nightmare. As of today, June 03, 2011, our research has led to attempting to place Mom on a small dose of Melloril in the evening. This seems to be the medication that is the most closely related to Serentil. She has not begun this yet as we need to find a Dr. to prescribe it. I think Serentil may be still available out of the country....but without researching that....it sounds scarey and risky with it being monitored by USA standards.
