Yes, this does contain 40mgs of the antidepressant Citalopram.
Were you getting different pills, before?
Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and headache.

Yes, both from local pharmacy, but the other tabs seemed more effective
Jelebo,
That makes sense, as I was just explaining to another of our sites users on here, there are reasons for that.
The FDA actually allows generic manufacturers to differ, in the active ingredient, from the name brand manufacturers, by as much as plus or minus 20%.
That means that, even from generic to generic, there could be some differences in the amount of active ingredient from one company to another.
The FDA considers this an acceptable therapeutic window and, for most people, it is. Such variations have no effect on them, at all.
However, for some other people that are sensitive to medications or who have been using ones from the same manufacturer for a long time, then suddenly switch, it can have a detrimental effect. You might not be getting the same dosage in this one that you were in the prior ones you were receiving.
So, please rest assured, that no matter what anyone tells you or what the pharmacy says, this problem is not just in your head.
An example would be to say that you were prescribed a 100mg tablet of a medication and maybe the company that made it had some variation so what you were getting was actually 110mgs. Not a major difference, but your body does get used to it, after you have been on it for awhile.
Then, perhaps your pharmacy orders from a different company or maybe you're out of town and have to use a different pharmacy. This time, when you get your prescription, the company has a fluctuation the opposite way and maybe their pill is actually only 90mgs.
Well, this could be enough that you aren't getting enough of the active ingredient and find them to not be effective.
The FDA considers the plus or minus 20% to be an acceptable therapeutic window and it usually is, but there are some people that are sensitive to these fluctuations and they experience problems.

Is there anything else I can help you with?
Thanks, Verwon, for the info -- it's very helpful -- looks like I got some low dosage 40s -- I feel better just knowing
