Sorry to hear about your situation. Based on my research, Doxycycline can be used for a variety of bacterial infections (including sinus infections). Unfortunately there's no way of knowing ahead of time how well you'll end up responding to Doxycycline, without understanding your medical history, current health, lifestyle, and other individual factors that determine an antibiotics overall effectiveness. I can only assume that your doctor made the right decision by prescribing you something strong for an infection like this.
