Relationship Between Gabapentin And Gluten (Top voted first)

My daughter has celiac disease and also is taking Gabapentin. Does this medication contain ANY substance that contains or is derived from gluten containing source. Is there any know adverse effects in Celiac patients as a result of taking gabapentin

Chris, just this evening I began to check out my meds re gluten fillers. Neurontin is the brand name and DOES NOT contain gluten, whereas the generic equivalent-Gabapentin DOES use gluten as a filler. This has been found at www.glutenfreedrugs.com

Greenstone brand of Gabapentin doesn't make me ill while the other brands do

Actually, there are some generics that are gluten-free too. I also have Celiac disease and take the 300mg capsules made by Greenstone and I've never had a reaction. Once my prescription was filled with the generic from Apotex and I took one pill and felt horrible for a solid week.

BTW - the only side effect I've noticed so far is occasional dizziness - which is much easier to deal with than the peripheral neuropathy pain.
