Pain in Knees

I am 76 years old and my orthopedic doctor advised me to take Rejoint tablets 3nos
per day. I have already taken them for two months and I am continuing them.this was recommended by the doctor for pain in legs and knee as I was not able to walk or stand on my own for more than 10/15 minutes.There is a good deal of improvement in the problem.But, I would like to know now how long I should continue them.My doctor is of opinion that I should continue for six months.
