Regestrone Tablet 5mg For 5 Days For Irregular Periods

I have irregular periods and trying to conceive for past 1 yr. My doctor advised me to take regestrone for 5 days (3 tablets per day) . I have thyroid problem and taking medicine.. How effective is regestrone to induce my pregnancy. Is this really increases my chance of getting pregnant..
