Hello, Jillian! How are you?
Abnormal bleeding is a normal side effect of Mirena, but after 6 years, it needs to be replaced. It is only effective for 5 years, which may explain the increasing irregularities.
The brown blood is usually old blood that has been sitting in your uterus for awhile and is nothing to worry about, as explained by the NIH. Black bits are usually clots and the watery part is due to discharge.
When is your Mirena going to be replaced?
