Real Vs Fake Norco Pill
UpdatedHow can you tell a real 7.5/325 from a fake one? Is there any tests you or your pharmacy could do? Thank you!
Hello, Arlene! How are you?
No, the only way to be sure, if you didn't obtain it from a licensed U.S. pharmacy, would be to pay to have it lab evaluated somewhere.
Are there any markings on the tablet in question? That information would enable to check more details on it for you, such as if there are known fakes.
The FDA classifies this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
I've gotten two different ones before that I thought and knew were fake. Including Norco 10/325. I'll write down markings of both.
Markings on Norco 7.5/325:
First pill-
Side one: M366
Side two: Blank
Color: White
Shape: Elliptical/Oval
Second pill-
Side one: WATSON3203
Side two: Scored
Color: White
Shape: Capsule-Shape
Markings on Norco 10/325:
First pill-
Side one: V
Side two: 36 (score) 01 "36 01"
Color: Yellow
Shape: Elliptical/Oval
Second pill-
Side one: WATSON853
Side two: Scored
Color: Yellow
Shape: Elliptical/Oval
I have come across more fake Norco 10's than the 7.5's. Even from the pharmacy. I know they were fake because I'd take them and they wouldn't do anything at all. Real Norcos normally make me a little foggy but mainly take away or at least ease my pain. It has gotten to the point where i won't even get the yellow ones from my pharmacy. If yellow is all they have, ill go somewhere else. Call me crazy or paranoid or whatever, but I'm sure a pharmacy could get fake pills without knowing it, of course. And with my personal experience, it is happening. The only way I could visually tell that the Yellow 10/325 were fake is that they were way too easy to break, white specs on the inside, and some markings weren't in they're correct place. I dont want to put too many details on how to tell because I dont want whoever who's faking them to see what we can visually tell what's wrong and fix it to the point where we can only tell once we ingest. And gosh knows what that could be! Very scary. I just wish I knew how to visually tell the fake from the real ones. Any ideas?
If you take a (possible) narcotic (that you bought off the street tho!) to a pharmacy to see if it is real or not, they will probably tell you how "special" of a customer you are. That would absolutely be the dumbest thing that you could possibly do. Lmao. That's a terrible, terrrrrrible idea. Lol! Mines well call the pigs & have em meet you there!
If they are fake...when you break it...it will crumble and when u take it..you wont get the norco effects
Everyone has some dumba** thing to say about these questions. If you don't know we don't need to know. We know to get real ones from a pharmacy, we know how to use the Internet for a simple search on identification, we are looking for trends in spotted fakes and how to be sure they are bad. Simple.
Lmao. You are so right. The popo's will for sure be called if you take a fake pill to the pharmacy Lol
I have a prescription for Norco on one side of some it's v and 3601 on the others the v is upside dwn and the #3 is barely stamped in. What's that about?
Same issue. 3 barely stamped. Spacing between 36 01 is fine. Color is fine.. any caise for alarm?
Those are definitely fake and yes there is cause for alarm. In Atlanta, there has been 36 overdoses and 4 deaths just this month due to people taking these fake Norcos. 1 lady was given a prescription from Grady hospital, and had it filled at Walgreens. After investigation, the DEA found that this Walgreens had been buying their pills from an web-based company to save money. This company was selling fake Norcos that contained poison. After they went to the Walgreens and looked at the other pills, they could clearly tell they were fake. The numbers and letters were upside down, crooked, and some barely stamped. Watch what you take.
It's very easy to tell if Norco is fake. The real ones now have shiny imprints, so the best way is to break it in half and taste just a tiny bit...You'll know it right off the bat. The fake ones have no taste or hardly any taste.
I am in nursing home and the Norco is without markings, other than being scored on one side. Are they real?
Okay everybody I can tell you 3 simple steps to be about 95% sure .. listen carefully it could be the difference between life and death.
This works for norcos, and oxycodone 5mg-10mgs
Step 1. OBSERVING THE PILL
Look up the pill you are taking and make sure the pill has the EXACT markings, im talking shape, color, font, etc. But the main part of this step is to look at the pill and make sure it is symmetric, (pressed pills can be lop sided or not perfectly straight on the sides, etc. Your pill shouldn't be chipping) the last thing u want to do is make sure there is a shine to the entire pill, almost like a gloss.
STEP 2 SNAP IT IN HALF
you should be able to snap the pill right down the middle (clean). What u want to see is how much pressure it takes, real pills should not crumble or snap all diagonal or anything, it should be a clean break either on the line or right down the middle.
Step 3
Shine a light or use a phone flashlight and shine it to the inside of the pill, you should be able to see sparkles (on the inside of the pill where u broke it in half) these pills contain a crystalline opiate and every single pill should shine with little tiny sparkles on the inside...
Might sound like a lot but u can't be too careful with people dying of pressed fentanyl pills
I'm trying to reach out to the FDA or someone to contact me asap as I think that the Walgreens in Birmingham Alabama on roebuck parkway sold me some bunk pills. I haven't taken anymore of these pills after they made me throw up. I'm really trying to contact someone. I'm also going to contact a layer on Monday.
I just got a fill at Wallgreens. The 10-325 norcos were white. I just came off of 60mg Oxycontins tid and 4mg. Dialaudid Qid. I felt the relief and pain in my legs went mostly away. I'm happy. Always liked Walgreen's. I do not like CVS
Re: Krashelle (# 9)
real oxy's the same xome of my pills have black spots and if I rub with fingernail slightly the slinny scraped off
Ricky Ricardo (# 13) --
What was the manufacturer/ markings and white or yellow?
Re: Ricky Ricardo (# 14)
I am glad your pills work for you from Walgreens I am also on Norco 10/325 from walgreens and its like taking nothing alot of other people have complained about walgreens
Having same problem. Been taking 5 10/325 a day and have not felt the effects on them at all. I get the white Watson 853 and I snapped one in half. Clean break, all of them or glossy but something not right with them.
Re: Krashelle (# 9)
Wow!! Thanks for the insight! That's real scary that a pharmacy has bunk pills and doesn't make sure they're dealing with a reputable supplier. That Walgreens should get shut down! Also scary that the pharmacist didn't look at the pills well enough to realize that they weren't right!
Re: Bubba (# 19)
I just got a prescription filled at Walgreen's for hydrocodone/acetaminophen 10/325 and I noticed the manufacturer has been changed. It use to be Actavis which the pills did nothing for me. It was like taking nothing. I noticed now the manufacturer is Amneal and they are giving me headaches and not getting rid of pain. What is going on with these manufacturers? Watson sold out to Actavis and like I said the pills weren't helping like before Watson sold out. Has anyone else gotten pills from the manufacturer Amneal and if so do they help with your pain?

Did she have a presription? Or she bought them of the street
Re: Lettinuknow10 (# 22)
Their around Lansing, MI too a friend of mine came across some made her severely sick, migraine and other things. She said it must of had a bit of hydrocodone in them because she felt some pain relief but whatever else was in it was no good. The 10 on the back is spaced far apart, the pill crumbles when you break it and there is little to no taste to the pill.
Re: myst (# 29)
yes the pills were marked but they were off a bit I could tell I am stilling getting same pills but without the tiny black spots I check every month if I do get more they will be returned to pharmacy to be replaced they should not be able to give me contaminated meds .
Re: CuriousCustomer (# 26)
Those are fake. That is exactly what the ones with heroin look like. They also leave a slight greasy feeling. If you get the Fentanyl fakes they'll be powder-like when you break them.
Toss them in a glass of water and pour it out somewhere safe. Wash your hands and any thing else they've touched because even small amounts of Fentanyl on your skin can cause an overdose. Wear gloves when doing this no matter where they came from.
Some pharmacies are getting them over the internet which come from China and have anywhere from tramadol to the two I just spoke of.
To guarantee that you have hydrocodone break it in half and shine a white light on the middle of a broken piece to see the hydrocodone. It will look like tiny specks that look glittery. Though both of the two I mentioned are opiates and when pressed into pill they have a very dull white to grey look. Some will even look dirty so that will also help.
If they have no bitter taste or burn the gums spit it out and rinse your mouth ASAP. If you start to feel sick then watch for other signs like rapid or slow heart rate that most have said they can tell without taking their blood pressure. If you have those signs then you need to seek a doctor's opinion to make sure you took the correct medicine.
You can buy a drug panel in store to also check to see if you are getting hydrocodone and not tramadol or bunk pills.
I live in Alabama and they've had to analyze many lately thanks to pharmacies trying to cut cost. The Watson 853 is what a family member was getting and the FDA sent a warning stating a few of our Health mart pharmacies got theirs off the internet. They had it evaluated for tramadol instead of hydrocodone and it cost them their medicine for a month because the doctor thought they got it else where. They have stage 4 liver cancer and suffered for a month because of that pharmacy screwing up like this.
Re: myst (# 15)
I have been looking lately and have not seen anymore like it. I took 3 in 2 hours with zero relief, they stopped working. I went to my doc and got a new med and it worked. Those were not. So then my doc gave me extended release with the oxycodone and I have been fine since but I look at every batch and haven't seen any black spots for a long time. Maybe they gave bad 1's to see if we are really taking it? Who knows? I just feel there is an agenda.
Re: John (# 11)
No matter what pills should be marked, it is to keep mix ups. Maybe an employee is stealing the real things. Do they help pain and last?
Re: rk (# 25)
I am sorry you are going through this if the pills no longer work can you switch to a new med because of the issue certain drugs not working I had to get a new type med
at Times I feel they are forcing people to switch.
Re: Lettinuknow10 (# 22)
Did they look different like the 1 and 0 we’re far apart
Re: Lettinuknow10 (# 22)
What do they look and feel like? I recently got some that were chaulky and weird feeling.
The government is getting away with causing the disabled to suffer and it is sickening. Torturing the weak while trying to help addicts on the streets. Backwards *****s.
Please if anyone can afford to have these garbage pills analyzed to see how much hydrocodone is in them it's the only way to stop this and then hire a lawyer for litigation. I would if I could afford to, cuz none of them work anymore at all.
This has been going on for years now, ever since this fake war on opioids began these companies are getting away with selling bad drugs with little to no active ingredients in them. It is sickening and evil and nobody will help us.
