Protheidan Side Effects

My mother was prescribed protheidan for depression.though she has recovered,she can't seem to stop taking it.Her doctor says she still needs the drug,But she is finding it difficult to deal with the side effects namely weight gain(was always frail),breast enlargement,nausea,dizziness,blurred vision,body heat.Can someone tell me how to get her off this?

Prothiaden contains the active ingredient Dosulepin, it is a tricyclic antidepressant.

Those are normal side effects, however, if she would stop taking it abruptly, this medication is known to cause withdrawal symptoms. These medications have to be slowly tapered, by gradually reducing the dosage.
