Promethazine Made By Amneal More Effective For Nausea

pls help me to explain to my pharmacist that the pill I took made by amneal and prescribed for me to relieve nausea works and the medication he sold me made by other manufacturers is not the same medication and is worthless. He told me in words that suggest that im not mentally well that these drugs are identical. They are not.

It is the same medication, but there can be slight fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient, so if this one is slightly lower, it might not work as well for you.

The FDA does allow them to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% of the active ingredient. That's really a small fluctuation window, in many cases less than a milligram, and it doesn't cause a problem for most people, but sometimes people are sensitive to medications and can have a problem with any fluctuation.

Additionally, if you've been taking the same one from the same manufacturer for a long period of time, then are suddenly switched to a new one that's slightly lower, it may not work as well for you. However, since the difference is still very slight, your body will usually adjust after about a week or so.

Promethazine is an antihistamine that's most commonly used to treat or prevent nausea and vomiting. Side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth.
