@Bob,
From what I've been reading, Progesterone is actually vital for maintaining good health in men. But when we get older we don't produce as much, which may be linked to various prostate problems... depending on the underlying cause of it. Diet plays an important role too.
Because we don't know the underlying cause of your prostate maladies, I think deciding on whether or not to supplement with Progesterone would be probably better determined by a combination of you and your doctor or urologist's opinion, after running some diagnostics to check where your hormone levels are at.
@post #1 (Sakza),
Sorry to hear about your condition.
You may want to get checked out by a urologist as well, just be on the safe side. They tend to specialize in prostate issues and male reproductive disorders.
Has this been an ongoing problem you've had?
David-- thanx for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it. I don't know if you are the same "David" I've posted to before or not. Quick overview: for some 6-7 YEARS, I have had (and continue to have) chronic prostate infection. I know it is not a good thing, but I an on a daily antibiotic probably 10 out of 12 months of the year. Doc (urologist) works diligently and faithfully with me and is my advocate in every possible way. I started with him when he opened his practice and have been with him ever since, now some 47+ years. The infection became so bad in 2010 that I was having a hard time walking because of the pain. Doc was forthright w/me and said the only way to lessen the pain was to remove the LEFT testicle. A guy doesn't want to hear this, but w/extreme pain I was in, knew I had no choice. It was removed bad biopsy afterwards showed the extreme pain I was in was because the infection had "eaten thru" a portion of the testicle. That was 4 years ago. I still have ongoing infection and pain. Was getting Testosterone shots,cand the helped, but didn't like the yo-yo effect. Doc suggested TESTOPEL pellet implants which I do now each 3 months. Problem is my PSA is almost always elevated which can happen because of infection. It can also rise from something as simple as a recent climax. Doc wants me to agree to ANOTHER prostate biopsy which we did three (3) years ago. It wasn't unbearable, but would just as soon avoid if possible. All of this is background as to my query re: Progesterone creme. I've read it can lower PSA levels and would be willing to try that. I'm due for TESTOPEL mid-May, but will, of course, have PSA scheduled prior. I apologize to you and others on this site for my rambling. BTW: I'm 69 and was diagnosed with melanoma last fall and have had four (4) surgeries on my cheek since then. My oncologist said the TESTOPEL is not a problem for me to continue. Again -- thanks for listening.
