I have been taking levothyroxine for approx 18 months whilst awaiting a total thyoidectomy t remove 2 large goitres. Any changes took a little time to adjust to but in the main apart from the sleep issue, felt good. 10 days into my post.tt and I can´t sleep, can´t eat anf feel dreadful. W ish I had never had it done. Awiting the biopsy result tomorrow so at least that will be a weight off the mind, but IT ID THE PHYSICAL AILMENTS that I am struggling with. Choking evn when drinking water, everythings tatstes horrid so i do not want to eat it, smells are amplified to the point of making me sick and I have not slept again tonight. On 100mg for now. anyone else had similar probs

Hi I had my thyroid removed 10 weeks ago, wish I could turn the clock back! Worst thing I have ever had,I started of on 100mg thyroxine, now my doctor says I also need t3 ,so have gone down to 50 mg of thyroxine, and on 20mg t3. My hair is thinning terribly, and constant headaches
I feel there is something wrong with your word verification system. I have entered correctly 4 times and been rejected. Marion Pieri
What are the complications if i miss post thyroidectomy medications for 2 years? Can it be treated?
Thanks for your reply. I take my levothyroxine first thing in the morning as I always have. I am now 17 days post op and still wish I had left things as they were. Biopsy came back benign although I believe the growth was very large so I know I could have had probs just with the size of it.I stll cannot swallow properly, cannot face food so have not eaten properly since the op, and have now been told I may have prob with the voice box that will need therapy. Really feel dreadful and now wondering when it will start to feel better.
I am very sorry to read of what you are going through.
The odd taste and insomnia can be caused by this medication.
What time of day do you take it? To avoid the insomnia, it is usually best taken in the morning.
Have you talked to your doctor about this? You may require a dosage adjustment.

Does anyone else with experience using this have anything to add?
