Hello, Linda! How are you?
I'm sorry, but regardless of why you were going to the clinic, an addiction treatment center is what's listed in your medical records, so a private doctor will not be able to prescribe it for you. I wish I had better news for you, many people have asked similar questions, but I do not.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Is there anything else I can help with?
Linda, Massachusetts like most of the northeastern states are difficult places to live if you suffer from chronic pain. Ignorance is ramped especially among the very people in medicine you would hope they were there to help you. Unfortunately, like the previous commenter said if you were going to a methadone clinic it is probably on your record now and no doctor will treat you...chances are that was what forced you into a clinic in the first place, no doctor would treat you right? Ironically, I have had social workers tell me to go into a methadone clinic myself for pain treatment. When I said that I was not an addict so I should be able to have a doctor manage my pain, she told me that my best chance to get adequate pain care was the clinic because they would give a higher dosage! Massachusetts treats chronic pain sufferers deplorably, forcing them either into addiction clinics the streets for drugs or suicide and then they wonder why we have such a huge drug problem... insanity!
I have been on methadone for 28 years and have no dirty swabs drug panels or u/a's and the way that they treat people is deplorable. I went to Mercy hospital in springfield for a brain scan because I was getting headaches, the doctors asked what medications I was on and I said 120 milligrams of methadone so they proceeded to inj. me with narcan the next thing I remembered was being handcuffed to a bed then sent to psych ward the clinic took all my take home bottle privileges the methadone clinics actually undermine my sobriety. I need a physician to prescribe pain medication for me I have never seen so much blind eyed corruption
Anyone know of a site that lists physicians (by state or region) who will write rx for methadone for chronic pain? I am in SE Massachusetts (Cape Cod/Lower Cape) and my methadone (for legit chronic pain) prescribing neurologist passed away a year ago. His staff tried to find an alternate doctor who had the appropriate training and willingness to write rx for pain with NO luck! I ended up at a methadone clinic (the NP at the neuro doc actually said I should "lie" if I wanted to continue w methadone! And she isn't the only medical professional who suggested I lie to keep getting the treatment that works best for me after YEARS of clinical trials and multiple attempts at pain control with other meds and modalities of treatment). I have gone down in my dose from 105 to 30, and desperately want to leave the clinic ASAP--just isn't working for me even with take-homes--I want to be able to travel overseas and spend more than a week or 2 doing so. All attempts at locating a physician to help/prescribe what I need (Looking for subutex if not Methadone--too many times I need breakthrough narcotics at the hospital for kidney stones and migraines in addition to my original issue---can't take the blocker in Suboxone or Vivitrol. I have clean drug panels and no problem releasing all med records and contact info for current counselor and clinic--I just need help finding a doctor who will actually take the time to look at my records and history/compliance and facilitate my return to the "real world" away from the local clinic nonsense and constant staff turnover, changing owners/changing regulations, etc. Maybe someone knows a physician or practice or office based treatment program that would be able to help anywhere on Cape Cod?!? Or a resource site with a list? Thanks.
Hi. I am sorry you guys are having so many problems. I am on Methadone, 240mg per day, Roxicodone 180mg per day, plus Ambien 5mg per day for sleep. My primary care doctor took over my care approx. 10 yrs ago after about 10 yrs with pain management doctors in both CT and MA. I do know of a couple of pain management clinics in MA and CT that will prescribe methadone and/or OxyContin/oxycodone. My primary doc is not accepting any new patients. If any of you are still looking for pain clinics, let me know. I will be happy to share some names with you.
