Prestiq-no Hot Flashes! (Top voted first)
UpdatedMy doctor gave me prestiq about 6 weeks ago, because we were having no luck controlling my hotflases with hormones. I had a complete hysterectomy @ 37 a year ago and the flashes were a nightmare! This medicine almost COMPLETELY stopped the hotflashes and helped with the mood swings! I was amazed that an antidepressent was the answer! FYI, I also sleep better and have been diagnosed with figromyalgia, which the symptoms are a little more tolerable.

Some of the things I have read about Prestique are scary. My sister takes it and it has stopped her hot flashes and it has improved her mood. Medco does not cover it and I was wondering how much it costs? I also have high blood pressure (controlled on Norvasc) do you know if that would be a problem?
It has become increasingly more common for doctors to prescribe antidepressants to help with menopausal symptoms, when a patient can't use HRT, or doesn't want to risk using it. There are several that have been found to help, in addition to Pristiq, such as Prozac, and Paxil.
Their typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood changes, and weight changes.
Rosemary what have you read about it? Perhaps if you were more specific, I could address your specific concerns for you. Can you please post back and clarify?
The price would depend on your dosage, and the pharmacy you where you have your prescription filled. I didn't find any interactions listed between it, and Norvasc, but only your doctor can decide whether or not it is safe for you to try it. However, I take Prozac, for perimenopause symptoms every day, along with my blood pressure medications, and haven't experienced any issues, but we are all different.
