Prednisone Tapering

Can you taper prednisolone.. 30mg/day for a week by 10mg/day each week after without side effects or is it best to go from 30 to 20 to 10 to 5mg?

How has your doctor directed you to taper it?

Sometimes, if you've been taking it for less than 3 weeks, tapering isn't necessary.

Usually, however, when it is tapered, it is done by 10mg increments, but not for a week each, in most cases, it's usually just a couple of days. But you need to follow your doctor's instructions, they are the final decider as to what is safest for you.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this steroid as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness, insomnia, weight gain, fluid retention and acne.
