Hi, Lyn!
If her doctor didn't specify otherwise, she should be able to split them up throughout the day. Many times people are just told to take them all at once to make sure they don't forget to take the next dose later. It's been proven through medication compliance testing that people will usually remember to take one dose, but subsequent ones are typically forgotten.
It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and fluid retention.
