Prednisone 20mg For 7days

I have been prescribed to take 20 mg prednisone a day but haven't started taking it yet because of the scary side effects. The doctor prescribed methis medicine because of the lumps that has been on my leg. The prescription says to take 7 days 20mg , 7 days 10 mg and 3 days 5mg. Im really scared to take the meds because of the reviews that i have read. Will the side effects be gone after im done with the first 7 days?
