Penicillin is actually not the preferred antibiotic to treat it.

Usually, more success is achieved with Amoxicillin, Azithromycin and Doxycycline. Thus, the affect person should see their doctor, so the right antibiotic can be prescribed.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of antibiotics as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
