Is it necessary that all PMR-symptoms are gone, before you reduce the dosis of Prednisone?

If I have had a sever reaction to prednisolone / prednisone, what can I take if I have polymyalgia Rhumatica? I have many other drug allergies including morphine and codeine derivatives and other narcotics.
