Usually, it is meant to be taken just before a meal, so it has the chance to start working by the time you are digesting your food and will experience the most blood sugar fluctuations.

The NIH lists the typical side effects may including nausea, dizziness, headache, flatulence, diarrhea, and hypoglycemia.
