Mike, you should run to the authorities and turn yourself in for any and all law breaking activity. Even if you were a dumb kid that did what dumb kids do. No second chance, lock you up and throw away the key. 6 or 8 months of rehab for A pill....
compassion works better than forced attrition. We have NO details other than this lady found a pill in her sons room. Who knows....maybe it was dropped on the floor by someone else.

I am a pill addict myself. The withdrawals are horrible. But the fact that when I do not have medicine the pain from my back and knee makes me realize I do need the medicine. But with no insurance and having to find them off the street makes me an addict. But on the flip side of mixing pills. I do not do that! We just buried my sister in law on New year's eve for mixing pills. 90 clonopin (unsure of spelling) & 120 Somas in four days. The Norco and the oxycotin are not as bad as the muscle relaxers. Taking too many puts your whole respiratory system to sleep. And as far as sending someone to rehab. If they are not ready they will sit there waiting to get out and use. And you meet some of the best drug dealers in rehab. It's a be damned if you do and be rammed if you don't.

The "state" pays for 6-8 month inpatient program??? Are you seriously that dumb?? I'm going to take a shot in the dark here & assume you must have the luxury of never having to decide between paying for your child to play a sport that they love or keeping the apartment roof over your families head.

So sorry for your loss. You are so right about the people you meet in rehab!! It can be a very life changing, positive change- if and ONLY if the person wants the help & the amount of continuous daily work that it takes to stay that way. Nine times out of ten, if their not ready, their going to come out of that place with several new connections, new buddies, and most likely new ideas for trying new drugs.

I have been taking Percocet in different doses shapes & sizes for the past 15 years. With APP & without... I find absolutely have find very very very little difference (I say three times) between the different generic on the market & I find it bizarre that these people say they find drastic differences between them. I see a Less then 5% difference between manufactures.... Living in south Florida,Surviving thru the Pill Mill fiasco & swept clear thru the other side. The Tamper resistant Oxy-Contin & the unavailability of 15 & 30 mg IR has changed the market here in Florida. God luck to my brothers & sister here in the sunshine state..

Check out the Bill of Rights some time instead of Dancing with Stars or some sensationalized report on MSNBC.
Next? Search out Oregon vs DEA, NSA sending YOUR PRIVATE MEDICAL INFORMATION to the DEA then Homeland Security investigating 'pill mills' in FL. No knock raids, which though designed for safety by catching residents off guard (as opposed to presenting a LEGIT warrant) end with dead homeowners and/or dogs who might not even be the original targets as a surprisingly high amount of these raids go to the wrong address. Even w/ the right address using someone's pissed off neighbor's creative imagination as probable cause is ridiculous.Ask yourself these questions-1-how can the govt keep drugs out of the hands of addicts when they cant even keep them out of maximum security prisons? 2-If we are in so much debt (highly questionable) how can we afford to spend $50 Billion per year fighting drugs and addicts and operating DEA offices in over 60 countries worldwide? Who are the biggest drug dealers in the United States (most likely the world? Hint, google Judge Bonner youtube mike wallace 60 minutes. Who headed the largest group of drug dealers in the world before becoming Vice-president then President? If that isn't enough to convince you of the REAL motives behind the war on drugs you have been thoroughly brainwashed by propaganda. The govt doesn't give an da** about who's kids die of an OD. Just my 2 pennies, take 'em or leave 'em.

I have had my rounds with my two kids who are now 17 & 19. I dont think sending them away for months is appropriate for a 1st offense. Definitely DO NOT approach the dealer, s***! No brains on Mike eh? I have a way of parenting that most people dont agree with. But today neither one of my kids are into heavy drugs. Marijuana is their DOC, which I pat myself on the back for. Dont get me wrong, they could probably tell you about most drugs, they just dont participate. My method was to always be THE person they could trust. Sit down and explain to your child the effects of the drug, offer literature, etc. let them make their own mistakes so they learn 1st hand and never forget. But make sure they trust you enough to turn to you if need be. Because no one cares and loves them the way you as a parent does.

If i had gone thru my daughters room I would have found the pills she was on for coronory artery disease before it was too late. She passed away from coronory artery disease and never told me she had it. I found the pills after her death at age 27. I can only think she didnt tell me cuz she didnt want daddy to worry. So yes go thru your kids rooms. If they have a problem with it let them rent or buy their own home. The life you save may be your child's.

A good parent, who cares about their child and who suspects a problem. Has every right to go thru their childs room to gind out if they are taking drugs and nip it in the bud before theres a serious problem or her child ends up dead! How dare you tell her to stay out of HER childs room.
