Pill Expiration Prednisone. 5 Months Expired. Good To Intake?

hi there.. i have prednisone 20mg, my doctor advice me to take only 10mg. for 5 days but its already expired last oct 2014 and now is march 2015. isit ok to intake it? since im having a contact dermatitis. pls help me dont know what to do. thanks

Medications do tend to lose effectiveness over time, this one doesn't become dangerous, but it may not work as well as it did, when it was new.

Have you asked you doctor about that? They may feel that it's okay for you to try it.

The FDA classifies this medication as being a steroid and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, acne, weight gain, fluid retention, elevated blood pressure and elevated heart rate.
