Pill Counts
UpdatedCan my pain management doctor count pills from my other doctors with the same hospital or will he count just the ones he prescribed?

Hello, Jeff! How are you?
It depends on the type of agreement you have with your PM doctor. Some stipulate that they can monitor all medication intake, especially of controlled substances, but some don't.
Do you remember any of the details of your treatment contract?
If you do indeed have a pain control arrangement with your doctor (I do), you should have a copy. Mine stipulates all pain meds must come from my doctor only and if another doctor prescribes (for instance I had surgery recently) I need to notify my pain control doctor .. which I did. Anyone who needs to take opiates/opiods on a regular basis to treat their pain should be monitored closely. This is NOT meant to hassle you. It's there to protect you from things like overmedication, unsafe combinations, and yes dependency.
I don't take any other pain pills, but I do take adderall from another doc in the same hospital and I wasn't sure if they wanted just the ones they give me or all my other ones as well.
