Phentermine And Nortriptyline

I take 50 mg of nortriptyline to help prevent migraines. I am obese and am having trouble losing weight. I want to try phentermine along with a healthy food plan and exercise. If the dose of phentermine is kept low (15 mg), is it safe to take with the nortriptyline?

Can you take 10 mg nortriptyline and phentermine? I take the nortriptyline for tingling sensations I was having due to arthritis in the neck but having a problem losing weight. I'm thinking it's due to menopause.
Hello, Jamie! How are you?
No, these two aren't safe to take together, it could cause a life threatening reaction.
Nortriptyline is classified by the FDA as a TCA and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache and weight gain.
If some of your weight gain is due to the Nortriptyline, then you likely aren't going to lose any, as long as you are still on it.
Have you tried any other antidepressants? Some don't cause weight gain, so you may do better with a different one.
