Phenergan And Cherratussin (Top voted first)

I went to hospital they gave me a prescription for cherratussin ac syrup and Ventolin inhaler plus gave me a steroid shot for bronchitis. Took cough syrup 2 hours ago still coughing so hard I am vomiting. Can I take phenergan?

I have a full bottle of Cheratussin AC Syrup that expired Feb 13,2014. Can I still use it? I've read up to one year.

Sheila the medical field will warn you not to take any expired meds BUT most meds retain their effectiveness for several years.

Sorry to hear about the vomiting. I know that must be rough on you. As far as drug interactions are concerned, research from umm.edu does not list any interactions between Phenergan + Cheratussin AC + Ventolin (Albuterol). In that respect I don't see why you wouldn't be able to take Phenergan for some additional relief, unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.

'k' is right, most meds do retain effectiveness for several years. According to a news article from the LA Times, many drugs are still safe to take 20-40 years after their listed expiration date. This doesn't go for every product of course, but from what I've been led to believe, these dates are often based upon mere speculation and to generate continuous demand / supply.
